SimpleHR Makes Top 100 Best Companies List

SimpleHR was recently named one of Florida's Best Companies To Work For.

The annual Best Companies list is featured in the August issue of Florida Trend magazine. One-hundred companies are ranked in small, medium and large employer categories.

To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Read More

"The Best Companies find ways to make the workplace an easy place to be — at least one in five of this year's best companies has a game room or game table. Those companies understand the value of using games to build relationships among their employees, and also in promoting wellness. In addition, those gaming tables reflect another trend: Employers are investing in their office space," says Executive Editor Mark Howard.

"Top companies provide excellent pay, health insurance, 401k plans, and other "hard" benefits, but they also offer the leadership and communications that encourage employees to participate in the organization's overall success," says Florida Trend Publisher Andy Corty. "And to that long list, enjoyment options such as table tennis or other games bring energy to the enterprise."

The Best Companies To Work For In Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group and is endorsed by the HR Florida State Council. Best Companies Group managed the registration, survey and analysis and determined the final rankings. Florida Workers' Compensation Rates May Rise Nearly 20%

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation announced on July 1, 2016 that the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) has amended its filing to an additional legal change affecting Florida's workers' compensation system. This amended filing increases the NCCI's initial proposed combined average rate increase from 17.1 percent to 19.6 percent. This increase impacts all policy holders in the State of Florida. The proposed effective date of the increase will be October 1, 2016. Public hearings have been scheduled to discuss the filing in August. The hearing will be held at the Jim King Committee Room, 401 Senate Office Building in Tallahassee. More details regarding the hearing will be released at a later date. Read More

Currently, we are awaiting the Office of Insurance Regulation's decision on the proposed increase. Their decision could be to accept the proposed increase, adjust the amount of increase either up or down or reject the proposal. Ultimately, nothing will change until the Office of Insurance Regulation makes a decision. In the meantime, SimpleHR will continue to monitor the progress of this proposed change.
